Block Printing Workshop – Monday 7 September – Cloth & Colour
Reimagine pre-loved fabric in this relaxed introduction to the playful world of hand block printing.
Join Rachel from OOLAH STUDIO for a hands-on 3.5-hour workshop at Fare Cravin’ Cafe on the Central Coast. Arrive early to grab a cuppa from the cafe, then wander through Fairhaven Op Shopping Village for some treasured finds or inspiration.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the basics of block printing onto fabric alongside Rachel’s approach to pattern and design. You’ll learn to carve your own simple design onto a block, then experiment with composition and repeat patterns.
Choosing one colour, you’ll print your final design onto pre-loved fabric sourced from Fairhaven, using eco-friendly textile ink. You’ll leave with a printed piece which can later be turned into a wall hanging, patchwork project, cushion cover, gift wrap, accessory or keepsake piece.
Whether you love sewing, crafting, making — or are curious to try something new — this workshop offers a thoughtful and creative introduction to block printing onto fabric, while breathing new life into discarded textiles.
