DESCRIPTION:Write Your Queer Story\nJoin us for Plot Gay\, a special Plot Play creative writing workshop for LGBTQIA+ people and allies aged 16 and over. A friend or support person who can help you write your story is welcome. \nIn this inclusive and accessible session\, we will write our own queer stories in a relaxed and supportive environment. Plot Gay is especially designed for people who have trouble with reading and writing\, including adults with intellectual disability\, but EVERYONE with an interest in creative writing should come along! \nNo writing experience needed. \nYou will be guided through fun and creative writing prompts. \nYou will leave with an outline for your next story. \nIf you like what you write\, you’ll be encouraged to enter your easy to read story in a writing competition later this year. \nWinners will be announced on 3 December – International Day of People with Disability. \nAll materials provided but bring whatever you most like to write with. \nAccessibility\nWe will use Easy Read and visual materials\nWe will speak in plain English\nYou can bring a story helper (friend or support worker for free\, please email us at festival@coastaltwist.org.au to organise)\nYou choose how to record or write your story\nWe will not rush\nYou can take breaks whenever you like\nWe will have example stories\nThe FunHaus venue meets accessibility standards\nYou can ask us for a social story to help with getting to the event\nWe can work with your interpreter\nYou can talk to us about any other access needs\nThis event is recommended 16+ due to possible mature themes (under 18’s to be accompanied by an adult) \nFully accessible venue.

Avoiding items like underwear\, or worn-out workout gear. Items are exchanged without money; you swap the clothes you bring for new-to-you pieces from the collective pool. The goal is to refresh your wardrobe sustainably\, reduce textile waste\, and support a circular fashion economy. \nBefore the Swap \n1. Check your items: Ensure all clothes\, shoes\, and accessories are clean\, free of stains\, rips\, or missing buttons\, and in excellent\, “giftable” condition. \n2. Avoid specific items: Underwear\, used pajamas\, or overused workout gear. \n3. Consider quality and style:You can bring retro\, vintage\, handmade\, or items from all brands (we get young people are on a tight budget)\, but focus on items that are versatile and generally desirable. \nHow the Swap Works: \n1. Drop off items: Bring your items to the event for check-in. \n2. Wait for the official opening: The swap only begins after the host’s welcome and sustainability workshop. \n3. Start swapping: Once declared open\, you can begin selecting new-to-you items from the collective offering\, using your brought items as “currency” which you will receive tokens for. \nThe “Eco” Aspect \nSustainability:The core idea is to reduce fashion waste and the environmental impact of fast fashion.\nCircular economy:Swapping promotes the reuse of clothing\, giving items a second life and fostering a circular fashion economy.\nCommunity:Swaps create a space for people to connect\, share style tips\, and build community around sustainable living and conscious consumption.\nSee you there! \n*If you are a parent or carer supporting a young person to attend- there is no charge.

DESCRIPTION:Mangrove Mountain and Districts\nCOUNTRY FAIR\nSat 18th of October! \nEnjoy a fantastic day out for the whole family in the Central Coast hinterland at the annual Mangrove Mountain and Districts Country Fair on SATURDAY 18th October. Come along\, meet up with friends and have some fun! \nCheck out the amazing animal exhibits\, including the BeeZeebo which allows you to get close to the action to inspect a bee hive. Or meet the Bunny Lady and learn everything about keeping your bunnies healthy and happy. We will have Clydesdale horses\, Benny our local performing donkey\, cattle\, an alpaca\, informative sheep-shearing demonstrations on the hour\, a reptile show\, our Country Fair grown-up pigs and returning to the fair after a brief layoff\, the famous Chicken Races! \nNew rides – a very tall climbing rock-wall\, a high-swinging pirate ship and\, of course\, a jumping castle and pony rides. \nWe’ll have loads of exhibits from vintage tractors\, cars\, farm machinery\, and lots of information tents and demonstrations. The Dark Ages Huscarls will be demonstrating their sword-fighting. We’ll have lots of amazing arts\, crafts\, and yummy foods for sale by various local CWA groups\, as well as our delicious food\, cold drinks\, coffee\, slushies\, fruit salad and cakes for sale – all prepared by our amazing volunteers who man the stalls every year to make the Country Fair Day such a terrific day for all. \nDon’t miss the bargains at our plant stall and local produce stall\, and for the kids\, you can’t go past the showbags\, lucky dips\, and face-painting stalls. And don’t forget the Circus classes where you can learn all the tricks from Roundabout Circus! \nOur entertainment acts throughout the day across three stages are simply outstanding this year. So pull up a chair and sit the under gum trees and enjoy! \nKicking off the day’s entertainment\, our local children will proudly perform their songs and play their music on the stage. They’ll be followed by local teen singer sensation\, Ameliya\, Then dust off your boots\, get up and learn how to bootscoot with local instructor Lyn Booth\, and the Coastal Slickers line dancers. \nThen it’s time for our fabulous duo’s and bands to take the stage\, with rising Country Music star\, Jasmine Sparkes\, followed by the amazing Two Tone Pony band featuring Slim Dusty’s son David Kirkpatrick! performing on the Main Stage. Then cruise into the afternoon with Award winning Country music artist\, Cortney Keil\, Followed by an 10 piece big band Jazz and Funk extravaganza straight outta Sydney – Exploding Happiness!!! Also\, between our acoustic Waratah Stage performers\, Mick Gandy’s Country Music\, and for the first time\, the amazing interactive Artistry on Wheels caravan stage where you can help create a collective mandala\, listen to Samba and join in African drumming circle\, we’ll have a huge variety of entertainment and musical styles for you to listen to and engage with throughout the day! \nOur Arts and Crafts competitions and exhibition in the hall are always a highlight. The artistry\, creativity and talent on display is truly inspiring!
