SUMMARY:ART EXHIBITION Silt & Sky
DESCRIPTION:Silt and Sky explores the enduring imprint of the Australian landscape and the quiet ways a sense of place settles within us. Through shifting light\, colour and texture\, these works use abstraction as a visual language to express what is often felt but difficult to articulate — tracing the connection between landscape\, memory and emotion. \nBased on the Central Coast of New South Wales\, Kristy Fox is an abstract painter who finds inspiration for her art in every corner of nature. \nKristy’s style is earthy\, textural\, and deeply visceral. Layers of texture\, earthy tones\, and organic marks drawn from the natural world are abundantly evident across all of her paintings. \n“I paint in a way that embraces the beautiful chaos and quiet order of the natural world. Inspired by the wild\, untamed landscapes of Australia\, my pieces are as much a journey of self-exploration as they are an artistic expression.” – Kristy Fox

SUMMARY:Woodstock 57th Anniversary | Avoca Beach Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Woodstock 57th Anniversary celebrating the music and the moment that defined a generation. Why do we celebrate a music festival that happened 50 years ago? At the Woodstock Music and Arts fair 500\,000 watts and the world listened while a generation recognised and identified itself and its values through Peace\, Love and Rock n roll. Set against a backdrop of the anti- Vietnam movement\, the peace movement\, student activism and the Black Panther party Conservative America had declared war on its own children. \n“that’s why 50 years later the Woodstock Festival remains the defining moment for a generation trying to find a better way…” – (Damien Lovelock) \nAccess All Eras is celebrating by staging Woodstock ’26 bringing together the cream of Sydney’s musos and singers\, this Tribute to Woodstock will celebrate the high noon of these times – the anti-establishment\, anti-war\, peace-campaigning Sixties. You’ll experience the rambling solos and heart-wrenching emotion in classic songs from artists including Jimi Hendrix\, Janis Joplin\, Joni Mitchell\, Jefferson Airplane\, Canned Heat\, The Band\, Joe Cocker and more. \n‘Woodstock ‘25 features a blistering rock band featuring Jesse Redwing and including Floyd Vincent\, Tim Wedde (The Mockers)\, Steve Bull (Icehouse)\, Sarina Jennings (James Morrison)\, Lloyd Gyi (The Atlantics) and Nick Meredith (Matt Finish). \nOff the back of a slew of sold-out shows across Sydney\, including an audience of 6000 across three nights at the Taronga Zoo Twilight Series\, this Tribute to Woodstock will take you back to the defining event of a generation.

SUMMARY:ON FREEDOM - 2026 CABRILLO FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:Conducted by Cristian Măcelaru \nVivian Fung: America the Beautiful? (Festival Commission & world premiere) \nPedro Emanuel Pereira: Clarinet Concerto (Carlos Ferreira\, Clarinet) (Festival Commission & world premiere) \nPhilip Glass: Symphony No. 15 Lincoln (Zachary James\, Baritone) (West Coast premiere) \n6:30PM • PRE-CONCERT PICNIC + TALK: A free outdoor pre-concert experience featuring a brass sextet and a special welcome by Music Director Cristian Măcelaru. Bring takeout or some snacks from home. Table seating available. \nThe 64th season kicks off with Music Director Cristian Măcelaru leading the Festival Orchestra and audience in a powerful meditation on the distance between national ideals and lived reality. \nVivian Fung‘s America the Beautiful? (Festival Commission & world premiere) opens the season with a work responding to the U.S. National Anthem through the lens of her intersectional identity as a dual Canadian-American citizen with Chinese familial lineage. The piece confronts the tension between patriotic tradition and the deeply imperfect struggle to uphold democratic values for all. \nPedro Emanuel Pereira‘s Clarinet Concerto (Festival Commission\, world premiere)\, featuring clarinetist Carlos Ferreira\, blends Portuguese musical traditions with experimental timbres and performative innovation\, reimagining virtuosity for the present moment. \nThe program concludes with Philip Glass‘s Symphony No. 15 Lincoln (West Coast premiere)—featuring GRAMMY® award winning baritone Zachary James—is a six-movement symphony incorporating Abraham Lincoln’s own words\, including the Emancipation Proclamation and reflections on law\, power\, and ambition. The work resonates forcefully with the urgencies of today.

SUMMARY:Obradovic-Tixier Duo
DESCRIPTION:Catch the magical vibes of the Obradovic-Tixier Duo as they spin stories through their duo performance called TOLD. \nThe internationally award-winning Obradovic-Tixier Duo makes a tidal-wave splash with their live performances. “The music”\, says Croatian drummer Lada Obradovic\, “is a painting of life\, a vision of the world\, a scream transcending the sounds of the universe.” Even this preface can’t fully prepare us for the exhilarating journey of this program\, in which Obradovic’s rhythmic changes come fast precise\, and surprising — slowing down only to let French pianist David Tixier’s enchanting notes\, in turn\, wash the stage in vivid and bittersweet colour. This virtuosic pair has what it takes to win over every listener\, from newcomers to committed jazz heads in this unmissable performance. \nJoin us for an unforgettable in-person experience with the Obradovic-Tixier Duo presenting their latest project\, TOLD which celebrates their 10-year anniversary of existence. Expect a unique blend of sounds and vibes that will captivate you from start to finish. Don’t miss this chance to enjoy live music up close and personal in a relaxed atmosphere. SUMMARY:DEFIANT DREAMS – 2026 CABRILLO FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:Conducted by Cristian Măcelaru \nLeilehua Lanzilotti: of light and stone (West Coast premiere) \nJames Lee III: Shades of Unbroken Dreams (Alexandra Dariescu\, Piano) (West Coast premiere) \nSarah Hennies: The Grain House (Festival Creative Lab Commission & world premiere) \nCentering voices of resistance and cultural continuity\, this program explores the act of dreaming as a form of defiance. \nLeilehua Lanzilotti‘s of light and stone (West Coast premiere) draws on the legacy of Nā Lani ʻEhā—the “Heavenly Four” of Hawaiian royalty—to honor Indigenous Hawaiian identity\, gathering\, and the enduring power of cultural lineage. \nJames Lee III‘s Shades of Unbroken Dreams (West Coast premiere)\, featuring pianist Alexandra Dariescu\, channels the cadence and moral force of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech\, reflecting on justice\, equality\, and perseverance. \nSarah Hennies‘s Festival Creative Lab Commission (world premiere) will use the large-scale forces of the orchestra to evoke the complexities of human brain activity\, drawing on psychological and musical studies related to existence\, identity\, and memory. The Creative Lab\, now in its third year\, empowers composers to reimagine the orchestral experience with wide curatorial latitude.

SUMMARY:ART EXHIBITION – I AM NINA
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Funhaus Factory\, this special retrospective exhibition celebrates the extraordinary creative journey of Nina Angelo OAM through an eclectic collection of original artworks spanning years of personal expression\, experimentation and resilience. Alongside Nina’s own works\, the exhibition features a collection of artworks created about her\, as well as treasured everyday objects and collectibles from her private archive — together forming an intimate portrait of a remarkable life shaped by creativity\, memory and survival. Losing all her belongings twice to house fires\, the exhibition is both an insight into her domestic history and a powerful reflection on identity\, loss and endurance. \nNina Angelo OAM is an artist\, storyteller\, and gatherer of stories whose work has flowed across communities\, cultures\, and generations for more than fifty years. Born in Athens\, Greece\, to parents who survived the Holocaust\, and arriving in Australia as a child\, her life and art are deeply woven with themes of memory\, resilience\, belonging\, and transformation. \nFrom the studios of the National Art School to remote communities\, Pacific islands\, festivals\, and healing spaces\, Nina has spent her life creating beauty from lived experience — using textiles\, colour\, story\, and human connection as instruments of healing and celebration. Her work has been honoured with the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) and the Edna Ryan Feminist Award\, recognising her lifelong commitment to empowering communities and uplifting women’s voices through the arts.
