DESCRIPTION:Simon Tedeschi & Roger Benedict\nSWANSONG \nExtraordinary pianist Simon Tedeschi returns to Avoca with violist and conductor Roger Benedict\, and a brand new program of soulful music for viola and piano. \nCollaborating on musical projects for almost a decade\, including the 2023 ARIA-nominated album\, Debussy-Ravel\, and shows with symphony orchestra\, Tedeschi and Benedict reunite to perform Shostakovich’s deeply felt viola sonata\, the composer’s last completed work\, which seemed a farewell in which he referenced not only Beethoven but all 15 of his own symphonies\, and other significant works. \nDescribed by a critic as “like the catharsis in a tragedy; life\, struggle\, overcoming\, purification by light\, exit into immortality”\, it is the moving centrepiece of this concert\, bookended by the music of two Ukrainian composers: romantic rarities by Reinhold Glière\, and the mesmerising mystical sounds of Valentin Silvestrov.

Using only ingredients grown on the farm itself\, certified organic\, paddock to plate\, everyone will learn to cook together\, raise funds for OzHarvest\, and be part of something genuinely historic. \nThen the music starts. \nFrom 1.45pm\, the stage belongs to a group of Central Coast musicians who’ve spent years earning their stripes. Ivona Rose and Seán van Doornum front the afternoon two songwriters who between them have six albums\, an SMH Album of the Week\, a career spanning Europe and New York\, and a shared conviction that Australian music is inseparable from Australian culture. Behind them\, Evan Mannell on drums — the same Evan Mannell who plays with Peter Garrett\, Missy Higgins and Jimmy Barnes — and Matt Lamb on bass\, the man who brought the OB3 together for their beloved weekly residency in Umina Beach. DESCRIPTION:Sydney band Fathom breaks the Guinness World Record of the most concerts in 12 hours across multiple cities\, starting in Singleton\, Newcastle\, Gosford\, Sydney\, Penrith\, Lithgow\, Bathurst\, Goulburn and Canberra. \nFathom is a dream pop duo from Sydney\, who seamlessly blend synth pop and indie rock with dreamy and stream-of-conciousness lyrics. Their synth rock essence and moody songwriting is reminiscent of Beach House\, Crumb\, Mazzy Star and The Cranberries. After playing shows around Sydney since 2022\, they made their festival debut in Deniliquin at the most recent Play on the Plains Festival\, performing alongside King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizzard and Alex Lahey. \nTheir recent EP ‘With Good Intentions’ came out late 2025\, combining pop\, rock\, and T S Elliot poetry\, which saw much success on Australian community radio as well as support from triple j’s Ebony Jade “This song gives me the same sort of feeling as Mazzy Star does whenever she finds her way into my playlist. Music from a key year of social evolution\, and musical styles and popular culture growing\, combining and breeding new sounds and styles… characteristics that resonate\, now 60 years later. \n1966 was a critical year in music history. Pop music was evolving and artist were seeking out the ‘next sound’. We see a move away from simple beat music to pop music incorporating soul\, blues and the first stages of the new rock music. With artists like The Beatles\, the Beach Boys\, The Who\, Dusty Springfield\, The Kinks\, The Four Tops\, Bob Dylan and many many more\, it proved to be a pivotal year in the move towards the psychadelia\, hard rock and beyond of the late 60’s. \nWith a 5 piece band\, striking visuals and a little bit of a history lesson\, The Album Show will present a showcase of as many of these iconic tracks as possible in a 2 set\, 2 hour plus show!
