DESCRIPTION:Pocket Percussion presents a world‑first live show and 30‑minute cinematic spectacular in honour of The Beatles and Ringo Starr— a LIVE/film hybrid interweaving every Beatles song in chronological order from “Love Me Do” to “Let It Be” — premiering at the iconic Avoca Beach Theatre on Sunday 5 July\, 1:30pm. Two years in the making\, the audio‑visual film was recorded at Sydney’s Studios 301 with ARIA‑winning engineer/producer Stewart Geddes using 301’s $200k vintage Abbey Road–era rig. We’ve replicated and enhanced The Beatles’ sound for an immersive tribute to the band and Ringo. \nThe cinematic presentation runs for approximately 30 minutes and will be followed by Luke Herbert and his All‑Star Band — featuring Luke on a 1965 Ludwig Ringo kit — performing a high‑energy set of Beatles and solo‑Beatles material. Luke Herbert is a Central Coast session drummer who has played with Stevie Wright (The Easybeats)\, Brian Cadd\, Paul Kelly\, Grammy‑winner Lucky Oceans\, William Crighton\, Fanny Lumsden and more (see www.lukeherbert.com). \nLuke’s All Starr Band will feature Golden Guitar winner\, industry veteran – Kevin Bennett . Alongside local central coast Singer/Songwriter Dean Ray — X Factor Australia 2014 runner‑up whose debut single “Coming Back” hit No.1 on iTunes (Platinum) and whose self‑titled debut album reached No.5 on the ARIA Albums Chart (Gold). The Quartet\, which includes piano\, double bass and drums embraces microtonal scales and musical modes characteristic of Anatolia with compositions in sophisticated time signatures dancing between contemporary and traditional expressions. It is a creation of unique and soulful sounds with meditative improvisations and innovative jazz approaches. \nFeaturing:\nMetin Yilmaz – Bilur/Kaval (traditional Flute) \nJodie Michael – Drums \nMatt McMahon- Piano \nSteve Elphick – Double Bass \nMETIN YILMAZ is a virtuoso exponent of the Kaval (Ancient/traditional flute) \nMetin is a disciple of Ustad Sinan Celik and Osman Aktas\, Turkey’s first and foremost Kaval matsers and music producers. Of Kurdish origin and born in Turkey\, Metin’s experience as a performing and recording artist in Turkey\, Europe and Australia is extensive\, having since become a renowned Kaval player. \nBased for a decade in Cologne\, Germany where he toured Europe with some of Turkey’s finest musicians as well as collaborating with musicians across Europe\, Metin now aims to create the sound that he has been working for decades together with his new Quartet\, which has been defined as transformative\, meditative and captivating.
