SUMMARY:The Tap Conductor
DESCRIPTION:The Tap Conductor – An Art House Production\nConcept\, Sound Design & Co-Direction – Hilton Denis\nDramaturgy & Co-Direction Alicia Gonzalez\nProduced by The Art House \nAn ageing maestro stands before his orchestra\, unfinished masterpiece echoing in his mind. His body slows. His rhythm does not. \nThe Tap Conductor is a theatrical journey through memory\, time\, and the untameable pulse of rhythm. Blending virtuosic tap\, physical theatre\, contemporary movement\, and a live band that must chase the dancer rather than lead him\, the work flips the traditional hierarchy of music and movement on its head. \nAt its centre is the Tap Conductor – brilliant\, obsessive\, vulnerable. His feet become the baton. His rhythms summon continents\, characters\, and forgotten moments. Musicians emerge not as background\, but as co-conspirators in a playful battle between control and surrender. \nHumorous\, poignant\, and rhythmically electric\, The Tap Conductor explores what it means to age\, to create\, and to rediscover the pulse that keeps us alive. \nA theatrical odyssey where music doesn’t command the body — the body commands the music. \nThis project is support by the NSW Government through Create NSW. \nNote: This performance will take place in our Studio with a split cabaret set up. There will be an arrangement of tables as well as a seating bank. As this space is general admission\, seating will not be assigned and you may choose either a table setting or a tiered seat on arrival.
